Editor conveniences

Small editor helpers: cameras, playback speed, splines and post-process volumes.

What it’s for

This area covers small editor conveniences that do not fit anywhere else. Your assistant can place viewport cameras and set their field of view, slow down or speed up the running game, drop a post-process volume into the level, force a viewport resolution, save a camera bookmark, and add a spline component to a Blueprint.

Ask for these when you need a quick setup step. Cameras and post-process volumes help you frame a scene or match a screenshot to a target size. Slow motion is handy when you want to see fast motion clearly.

It can also set up replication on a Blueprint: which variables replicate, replicated functions, how often the actor updates over the network, and how far away it stays relevant. The Blueprint is recompiled after each change. For fuller networking work, see Replication and networking.

Things you can ask

Place a camera and set its field of view

You get a named camera in the level, framed and set to the field of view you asked for.

examplemisc
You: Add a camera called HeroCam looking down the hallway, then set its FOV to 75.

HeroCam is in the level, looking down the hallway with a 75° field of view.

Slow the game down to see fast motion

The running game plays at a fraction of normal speed so you can watch a quick animation.

examplemisc
You: Put the world into half-speed slow-mo so I can see the impact.

The game now runs at half speed.

Add a post-process volume and grade it

You get a level-wide post-process volume with the look adjustments you described.

examplemisc
You: Add an unbound post-process volume that bumps bloom and saturation.

Added GradePPV. It covers the whole level, with bloom at 1.5 and saturation at 1.2.
